Skink No Surrender by Carl Hiaasen--Noah

Chomp by Carl Hiaasen--Alex B.

Wonder by RJ Palacio--Sophie S.

Wonder is a beautiful book full to the top with meaning. The story is about a boy named August who is deformed. Auggie has never been to school before, but his parents say it’s good for him to go to school. So he goes and starts 5th grade. Now Auggie must go through a year of friendships, bullies, and courage.
My inference is Via (his sister) is protective. My evidence is that when ever kids see him and start to whisper she snaps at them. My explanation is when people look at Auggie they start to whisper. So when Via snaps at them they stop.
How this works is that when the anger in someone's voice is set off a gas in your body goes off which makes you scared or frightened so when she did that the kids immediately stop and mind there own business.

I infer that Lina is brave. How I know this is because Lina would go out into the night and steal wood for the fire in the hut. Lina would also sometimes steal food. This proves that lina is brave because if the NKVD caught her she could have been killed.

Stealling Snow by Danielle Paige-- Lauren K.

Inference for Stealing Snow
My inference of Stealing Snow, is that Jaggar really likes Snow. I can tell because of how he acts toward her. He comes to her aid and once he said “I will never leave you.” When somebody says “I will never leave you.” that usually means that they will do anything for them showing they really like the person.

I infer that the oldest brother, Ben feels like he has to keep his two younger brothers safe while they are facing a huge storm on their sailboat. It clearly states in the text, “Go below,” I yelled.”Get dry, stay in your bunk.” I was alone on deck in the dark of the storm. He is in a huge storm on a sailboat. He is the oldest of the three brothers and he told his two younger brothers to go down below in the sailboat. Therefore, he is probably thinking he has to keep his younger brothers safe in the storm.

Love, Aubrey by Suzanne LeFleur--Sophie W.

Love, Aubrey Inference

I infer that Aubrey is sad and mad about what happened to her and her family. I think this because once her mother leaves, Aubrey stays in bed almost all day, and the time that is not spent under her covers is spent on her couch watching T.V. In addition, as soon as Aubrey is rescued by her grandmother she is tempted to pour out every single sad, depressing feelings she has buried deep inside of her. Eventually, she ends up doing so. Aubrey does not like to talk about what has happened, when she does though, it usually ends up with her screaming at her grandmother out of anger. In the first couple of months of living with her grandmother, Aubrey occasionally plays with the girl who lives right next to her new home. However, when aubrey is reminded of what has happened to her somehow, she runs away crying. My evidence supports my inference because barely getting out of bed, and screaming and crying when you do so shows sadness, and anger about the awful things that have happened to Aubrey and her family.

Darke by Angie Sage-- Ben F.

Inference: I think that the darkness is a power to be reckoned with. They have already tried to contain the darkness by using a powerful spell but it is deteriorating. That is why I think that the darkness is a force to be reckoned with. I know this because it took most of the power from the best wizards to just contain it, let alone destroy it. That is saying a lot about how much power it needs to be destroyed.

The Running Dream by Wendelin Van Draanan -- Avery B.

Jessica is very determined to get back on the track. When her leg gets amputated, she has a choice to try and walk or to lay in bed and count sheep. This proves that Jessica is very determined to get back on the track because she could easily lay in bed, even though its hard.

The Guardian Herd: Starfire by Jennifer Alvarez--Natalie W.

Inference: My inference is that Star doesn't have very high self esteem. I think this because when Star went to talk to Greenwing he was saying that he thinks he deserves to die. This proves Star doesn't have very high self esteem because when people say they think that they deserve to die it it usually means that they don't think very high of themselves and not thinking high of yourself is the same as having low self esteem. Also, when Star was talking to Morningleaf he said that he was sure he would be good. This shows he doesn't have high self esteem because when people aren't sure they will be good usually means they aren't sure of themselves which is pretty much the same thing as having low self esteem.
