Day is strategically smart for not showing people his true emotions unless he trusts them, for instance when day let June tag along he didn’t tell her about the whole family scenario until he felt like it was safe. Example 2, Day let his mother believing he was dead for several years just to keep her safe. the evidence I have given proves that Day is strategically smart for not showing people his true emotions because if he had not befriended June than he would never have a chance at escaping Batala hall, in conclusion Day is strategically smart for not showing people his true emotions.

The main plot of this book starts to happen when Angel gets kidnapped and the flock has to go save  her.

My inference is that Max was terafied when Angel got kidnaped because ever since Angel was gone Max was super on edge.

Don’t tell me to calm down I will calm down when we have Angel back here snapped max. Max all we have to do is sneak into the lab get Angel and sneak out.

Do you remember the last time we were there we barely made it out Fang. Max started to chew her nails.

This evidence shows that   Max even though she is the leader she can be  completely terrified at times.

Personally this is one of the best books I have read in a long time. There is lots of non stop action and mystery.   This book will make you want to read the one after it and the next and the next and the next and the next and the next and the next. You will fall in love with the characters. They flock tries to find there real parents. Lots of explosions. So many weird things.

I think Katie regrets not being there for Lynne more than she was. I think this because after Lynne died Katie was talking to her Uncle and she blamed herself for Lynne's death. Normally you only blame yourself for something if you feel you could have done something else to help stop the death. Another reason I think this is right before Lynne died Katie and her got in a fight. So Katie decided to leave, and while she was gone Lynne died. When she figured this Katie made sure to finish all of her last wishes.  Including doing well in school. Katie hated to do well in school but after that happened she made sure to do well in school. When you do something even if you hate it  means you normally regret whatever you did. One last reason I think Katie regrets not being there for Lynne, is after she died she made a memorial for her in her room. She did this because she felt bad that she had fought with Lynne. That's what you do when you feel bad for something you did. Theses are all reasons that support why I think Katie regrets not being there for Lynne more.

Jessica has perseverance. Although she lost her leg, she set new goals and worked for weeks learning and practicing to use her prosthetic leg. She trained every day while pushing a wheelchair with sandbags in it so she could run a 10 mile race pushing Rosa. Learning to use her prosthetic legs is hard and frustrating. It takes perseverance to try the same thing repeatedly. It requires great effort to run 10 miles, but training to accomplish that with a prosthetic leg while pushing a wheelchair takes extreme perseverance.

My inference and evidence

     I infer that the other kids in August’s school do not understand how he feels, and what he has been through.

     I infer that because on Halloween, a holiday that August’s school celebrates by wearing their costumes to school, August was wearing his costume and no one knew he was the one under his costume. He walked into his classroom sat down when he heard some kids, including Jack, talking about him and how weird he looks. Accepted the day before, August and Jack were talking, laughing and having fun together in the hallway. The thing is that Jack just said something mean about August even though August is perfectly normal in the inside. Jack does not understand how he feels that’s what people who make fun other people think.

     Another piece of evidence is that Summer sat with August at lunch and Summer’s friends were asking her why she was sitting with him. That made me think that they think August is very weird. They made fun of Summer because, she sat at lunch with August they don’t understand how he feels.


    Finally, a third piece of evidence is that everyone always seems to point fingers and laugh at August. That shows that the other kids in August’s school do not understand how he feels, and what he has been through. People who make fun of other people don’t understand how they feel.

Book summary

The book is about a boy named Day. He ran away from the camp he got sent to because he failed his trial. He never went back to his parents they thought he was dead and he was also a criminal. He finds this girl on the street and helps her survive and she helps him survive. June is another girl in the book and she got a perfect score on her trial so she got to work in the patrol. She gets sent on a mission to find Day. She finds Day but she does not know it is him. She stays with them for a while and Day and June fall in love. My inference is that Peak is very brave. I think this because Peak gets the chance to climb And to be brave enough to accept that challenge and take it on is incredible. Another example is that when everyone is mad at Peak for being able to get a summit attempt. He didn’t let it get to him and he just kept persevering. One last example is that there is no oxygen up higher on Everest but Peak would not stop climbing he put his mind to something and worked really hard. This is evidence that Peak is brave because to be 15 and be able to accomplish so much and even think about climbing Everest takes great courage. Also to have over 100 older people being mad at you and be able to just take it and not let it bother you is really brave. Last to barely be able to breath but to have enough strength to continue and not just give up right then.

In the beginning, Peter’s father is going off to war and Peter is forced to let his pet fox named Pax back out into the wild. Soon he regrets letting Pax go and sets out to find him. Meanwhile, Pax has just met some other foxes and is now living with them. Near the middle, Peter breaks his foot on a root and is in major pain, but a lady finds him and takes him in to help him heal. She makes him crutches and Peter works out to grow healthier for when he is ready to go to go back out to find his fox.

When he is finally ready to go out, he gets on a bus bringing him closer to where he left his fox. After a while, he finally finds Pax with a couple of other fox friends Pax met while in the woods. Lastly, he found his dad who had gone off to war.

My inference is that Max is brave because she save a little kid but she got shot. Max parents gave max away and max has friends that don't have family and they live together and survive.

Max helps people even when it is dangerous.Facing danger is brave.

The kid are really good at solving mysteries because. Every time they go somewhere they will find a mystery and they will solve it. They are really smart because they made a list of the people that they thought were suspicious. Then they asked two of the people and then they explained why they were doing the thing that made the kids think that they were suspicious. Then they got autographs from wheel and from the Cody Howard the really good hitter on the other team. Then they got the envelope that wheely had with handwriting on it. Then the kid compared the handwriting to the autographs to find the person that was stealing the pitchers signals. That was wheely.

Aubrey arrives at her grandmas. A few days after she was there she make new friends, and she spends so much time with them everyday.

They went exploring one day and found a really cool place in the woods. Deep in the woods. They spent all their free time there and only there. Even when aubrey wasn’t with her friends she went there. Aubrey felt really calm and happy. And her friends were very loyal.

It’s such a good book, I suggest it to anyone the reads this.

Hi my name is America and I am here to tell you whats its like at the Selection. When I first realized I was selected I was kind of reluctant to go. I knew I would miss my family and my boyfriend Aspen. The first night at the castle all I could think about was being homesick, so I attempted to sneak into the gardens and ran right into Prince Maxon! Then he kindly let me out into the gardens to get some fresh air and we talked for a bit before we had to go back inside. Throughout the selection Maxon and I got to know each other better and better and I realized I kind of did like him. There was one problem, Celeste. She was the kind of girl nobody really liked, she was kind of bratty and she loved sabotage. There were also rebel attacks at the palace when that happen ( which can be quite often) we all run down to the safe room. It is a really cool experience.

The selection is a really cool book and I recommend it for you!!!

I chose this song because when she got this tattoo on her back, all she could think about was being normal. All she wanted was to be a normal everyday kid, with a normal life. ‘I’m just an ordinary human’ in the song is her lying to Mr Maynard saying that she’s not apart of T.A.T. and that's she’s just an ordinary human. When the song says ‘but I don’t feel so typical today’ is when she runs away from her so called ‘normal life’ and starts her crazy new life.

I chose this song because she finds out her best friend was working for Mr Maynard and tried killing Tara. Tara felt betrayed and left her best friend. Her best friend asked for forgiveness but Tara didn’t forgive her. The last time she forgave her, she backstabbed Tara once again. You know what they say, ‘fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.’

I chose this song because when Mr Maynard finds out that she’s apart of T.A.T. and gets jealous, Tara runs from Mr Maynard for her dear life because she didn’t tell him about her wings power. When the say ‘I wish there was another way out’ that’s Tara trying to find away to escape Mr Maynard.

I chose this song because it reminds me of ‘the final battle’ with Mr Maynard. Tara ‘unleashes’ her power from her tattooed wings.

The Fifth Wave: Gwyn

Summery

The Fifth Wave is an eery but great read. The book is written in first person and the perspective changes from person to person. The book starts out with Cassie, a girl of 16 trying her best to survive in the woods alone after “the Others” (an unidentified species that people think of as aliens) wiped out most of the human race with a series of attacks known as “Waves”. The story also follows her little brother, Sammy, as he tries to survive “camp” haven, a glorified military training camp that trains naive children to become soldiers. He is assigned a squad to bunk with and there, young Sammy meets “Zombie” (aka Ben). Zombie is a boy of 16 who looks out for and helps Sammy get through “camp” though he struggles with mistakes he made in his past.

Songs

The first song I decided to add to my playlist was Raised By Wolves by U2. I thought that this song fit The Fifth Wave because it accurately portrayed Cassie. It shows how She was suffering the loss of her humanity and how she was slowly becoming dependant on her instincts rather than her emotions. Not to mention, it also shows what life is like at camp haven: dark, dreary, and depressing.

The next song I chose was I See Fire by Ed Sheeran. I chose this song because it showed Zombie’s and Cassie’s feelings on how they lost their siblings and were hoping beyond hope that they weren't dead. Also, in the end/middle Ed Sheeran’s voice sounds slightly hysterical and distressed, accurately depicting how one would feel if they knew that their sibling was in danger/dead. It shows how Zombie is almost certain that his little sister is dead, but he’s hanging on to a glimmer of hope that she’s still alive.

The final song that I chose was I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor. I chose this song because it reminded me of what both Cassie, Zombie, and Sammy felt. It showed how determined they all were to stay alive and to see the end of their world. Gloria Gaynors voice is strong and passionate while singing, which fits how much they are willing themselves to survive.

It also mentions outer space in the lyrics which ties in well with the whole extraterrestrial theme.

Inference

One inference I made about The Fifth Wave was that the Zombie cared for Sammy. I made this inference because in the text, on many occasions Zombie put Sammy before himself. For example, he let Sammy sleep with him when Sammy was afraid even though Zombie could have gotten in big trouble. Also, he said Sammy’s prayer every night with him before bed with him even though the rest of his squad objected. Zombie also tried to relieve Sammy of his gruesome duties (cleaning corpses) even though Zombie could have been fired from being head of the squad for that. In The Fifth Wave it is apparent hat Zombie cares for Sammy.

I infer that the next time that Robie would go on a plane she would be overly prepared. I think that because if I had to bail out of a plane and be lost on a raft for anytime I probably wouldn’t want to travel on a plane again. But Robie has to because the only form of transportation is airplane and ship when trying to get from island to island and the only thing between them is water and distance. So the point i'm trying to prove is if I had to jump out of a airplane and survive on a raft for a couple days, not only does it freak me out just thinking about it, I would try to be so prepared that I would comfortably survive. I would never want to go on another plane, but if I were Robie and had to, I would definitely over prepare.  The way I would over prepare is bring food and water for weeks, a shelter, a bunch of flares, waterproof matches, knife, weapon. That is what I infer that Robie will do when she flies on a plane next... If she ever will.

I chose this song because it tells the story of Paul,Erica,Mark, and the pilot coming home from the school. The song perfectly displays the journey of the survivors.

This is a song for Erica. She used to rule the school. Then the infection struck and she was weak. She felt useless. She used to be strong “But That Was When She Ruled The World”. She was the most popular. Everyone looked up to her. Catherine her friend was tired of living in her shadow. In the end Catherine attacked Erica trying to kill her out of hate. Catherine had a crush on Paul but Paul liked Erica. Another example is that Erica called for Paul when the infected struck. She used her pull on him to help herself. She then realized what she did. This shows that Erica used to rule the school. She was going out with one of the most popular guys in the school. Erica used to rule the school.

Everything Has Changed!!!

I picked this song because even though they are home everything has changed. The infection will catch up with them eventually. Life has changed. It will be a world of survival of the fittest!

Larkin didn’t say anything even though he needs the money for his camcorder. Infact he didn’t think about it. This shows that he is a good friend.

I infer that Hazel is stubborn. In the middle of The Fault In Our Stars, Hazel insisted that she was a grenade meaning that when she dies she's going to make everybody that loved her sad and didn’t want anyone to love her. Augustus kept telling her that she wasn't a grenade and she didn’t agree. Hazel wouldn’t forget about it for a while, until finally she let it go. The definition of stubborn is: having or showing dogged determination not to change one's attitude or position on something, especially in spite of good arguments or reasons to do so. Hazel had determination to not change her attitude for a long time throughout the book. So I infer that Hazel is stubborn.  

I chose the song All Of the Stars by Ed Sheeran because it reminded me of Hazel and Augustus. In the song the lyrics quote “So can you see the stars over Amsterdam” and that connects to the book because at one point Hazel and Augustus were in Amsterdam looking up at the stars.

I chose the song  All I Want by Kodaline because in the song it says “You brought out the best in me, a part of me I’d never seen.” In the beginning of the book Hazel didn’t really have any friends and didn’t do that much stuff, but when Augustus came they did a lot of fun stuff together. So Augustus brought out the best of Hazel.

I chose We’ll Be the Stars by Sabrina Carpenter because in the song it says “Trying things we didn’t know. Looking at the sky, see it come alive.” And in the book they try new things. Also many of the other lyrics connect to the book.

In the book George by Alex Gino, George really breaks out of his shell by the end of the book. I know this because when Kelly proposes that George do the part of Charlotte, the play that the fourth grade is doing, secretly, he agreed because he really wanted to do the part. It is brave to say what you want. In the beginning of the book George would have said no because he was so shy about doing anything girly. But he did really well in the play. Furthermore, close to the end, he finally told his secret to his mom. She then denied that he was a girl. In the beginning of the book he thought he was going to have to keep being a girl a secret, but now, he told his mom and he kept telling her until she understood. That was really brave. Clearly, George has really broken out of his shell by the end of the book!

This quote from the book means she is a person in this big world, and makes an all around her. This is how she WILL live, WILL be strong and lead a life full of love and confusion, loss and being found.

This song talks about when Augustus and Hazel become a couple and more than friends.  Thinking about each other in Germany. How it might end, but they will always have each other to care about. And later, even though he is gone. He will be connected to Hazel, he might be thousands of miles away. Lastly, their memories, together.

I picked this song because it talks about feeling lonely and alone, this is just like when Augustus dies.

Inference:

Augustus was strong. I knew this because when Hazel's cancer came back he stood with her every step. Believing she would be ok. Also, when in Amsterdam and the author is going crazy, he stood up for Hazel! Augustus was strong.
